MENDOTA - OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center is offering a Hemoglobin A1c, along with a Wellness (cholesterol) screening at the hospital on Tuesday, March 19 from 6-11 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. and Wednesday, March 20 from 6-11 a.m. by appointment. An A1c screening is a blood test that requires no fasting and will show a person’s average blood sugar over the last three months. The cost of the A1c screening is $20/person, payable the day of the test. The results are available within 10 minutes and will be evaluated by a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Patients may also have their cholesterol measured for $35 per person; however, a 12-14 hour fast is required for this screening. Cholesterol results will include total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglyceride levels, glucose, and individual cardiac risk ratio. Results will be available immediately and will be interpreted before you leave. Information and recommendations are given to each participant.
