EARLVILLE - Helen L. Johnson, 92, of Earlville passed away Dec. 24, 2017 at OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville with Pastor Tammy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Precinct Cemetery in Earlville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.

Helen was born April 27, 1925 in Geneva to Herbert and Lydia (Lien) Youssi. She married Orville Johnson on Aug. 31, 1947 in Lee. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Survivors include three children, James D. (Pat) Johnson of Compton, Linda K. (Gary) DeWolf of Okmulgee, Okla. and Bryan H. (Sandy) Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Eric, Amy, Kristy, Misty, Jena and Jeremy; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton, Bree, Ty, Matthew, Kaden, Julia and Lily; three sisters, Lois Boyd of Earlville, LaVon Hill of Earlville and Alice (Chuck) Sklavanitis of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Arlene Arjes; and one brother, Donald Youssi.

Helen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville where she taught Bible school and was a former member of the church’s Ruth Circle. She and Orville lived on the Strong Farm, north of Earlville, for over 30 years. She enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and life on the farm. Her greatest love was her family.
