EARLVILLE - The Earlville Lions Club will have their 15th Annual Lions Fest on Saturday, June 24 at Dodge Park in Earlville.

The activities will include a parade, Pork Chop Dinner, Draw Down, kids water fights, Pedal Pull, games in the park, dunk tank, church food booths, beer garden and a free street dance with music by “Jake Mack & Lesser Stag.”

The parade will assemble after 11 a.m. on Saturday and begin at noon. Pre-registration is not necessary. Due to Ottawa Street construction, this will be a walking parade of the youth. The parade will begin at the east parking lot of the Earlville School and end at Dodge Park where games will begin.

Tickets for the Draw Down are $40, which includes two pork chop dinners. Draw Down tickets are available at McConville Realty & Auctioneering (612 S. Main St., Mendota), First State Bank Insurance, the Barber Shop and from Earlville Lions Club members. The Draw Down’s 1st prize is $1,000; 2nd prize $500; 3rd prize is $250 and many other cash prizes. In addition, there will be an early bird drawing on June 16 for $50.

The Pork Chop Dinner tickets may also be purchased the night of the event. Serving will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The Earlville Lions motto is “We Serve” and the club has been instrumental in the summer ball program, Helping Hands with free food distributions to the needy, eyeglasses for the needy, scholarships, Boys and Girls State, downtown Christmas decorations, as well as many other community activities.

The economy of the area at this time has made selling tickets to the Draw Down very difficult this year. Without the support of the community, the Lions will not be able to support these and other programs.

Due to the age of Earlville Lions members, they are in need of younger members. The membership is open to men and women. The future of the Earlville Lions service to the community is in the hands of the youth of the community. Please contact an Earlville Lions member to join the Lions. July 1 is the beginning of the new fiscal year. Membership dues are $65 per year, which includes memberships in the Earlville Lions, Lions International and the Illinois State Lions. They invite everyone to please help them serve the community.
