Winnebago bested the Mendota Trojan golfers in a dual meet, 174-181, on Aug. 22 at the Mendota Golf Club.
Owen Wixom had the low round for Mendota with a 42. Zeke Hessenberger turned in a 45 for the Trojans, while Taylor Joyce and Mason Schuhler each carded a 47. Tristan Joyce (51) and Tony Aughenbaugh (52) completed the MHS team.
Scott Sneider of Winnebago captured meet medalist honors with a 39.
Mendota’s junior varsity squad fired a 188 to easily outdo Winnebago (219).
MHS’s Austin Robinson led all scorers with a 45. Sam Becker (46) and Eli Otterbach (47) were close on his heels, while Colton Scheppers (50), Jack Beetz (51) and Lane Howard (55) also competed for the Trojans.
Mendota formed a purple team and a gold team that competed against each other and the gold prevailed with a 247. Members were Luke Ross (54), Mateo Escatel (63), Aaron Reddin (63) and Blake Thompson (67). The purple team (260) consisted of John Buchanan (53), Shea Doughty (68), Noah DeLong (69) and Kody Becket (69).

Mendota faced off against Rockford Lutheran in a dual meet and lost by 11 strokes, 180-191, on Aug. 24 at Rockford.
Taylor Joyce turned in the low score for the Trojans with a 45, followed by Hessenberger at 47 and Wixom at 49. Completing the MHS lineup were Aughenbaugh (50), Schuhler (52) and Tristan Joyce (53).
