EARLVILLE - Due to the Ottawa Street repairs it was decided to do a walking parade for the Lions Fest. Since that time the repairs have been progressing and are expected to be done on June 24, so a decision was made to have the full parade.
The parade will begin assembling at the Earlville School East parking lot at 11 a.m. and the parade will start at noon. Long time Lions officer and director Howard Gast will be the parade marshal.
In 2001, Lion Howard was the president of the Earlville Lions for the first Lions Fest. Every year since, the Lions Fest has taken place each June.
Lion Howard has been the Lion Tamer for several years and has the duty to take care of the personal property and to bring the necessary property to Lions events.
This year’s Fest will again feature a free street dance to be held at the Dodge Park Pavilion. Music will be performed by “Jake Mack & the Lesser Stag.” This band has played in the Chicago area and surrounding suburbs. Hear some samples of the band online at www.youtube.com.
Draw down tickets are available at First State Insurance and the Barber Shop in Earlville and McConville Realty in Mendota. Pork Chop tickets will be available the evening of the Fest.
