MENDOTA - LaSalle County Health Department is offering a free mobile Hepatitis C screening clinic in Mendota on Tuesday, July 23. Screenings will be available from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. in the Mendota city parking lot, which is located at the Southwest intersection of Rt. 34 (6th Avenue) and 8th Street.
This is a free clinic with test results in 20 minutes and does not require a blood draw, just a finger stick test. Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious, lifelong illness. Hepatitis C is often described as “acute,” meaning a new infection or “chronic,” meaning lifelong infection.
