SUBLETTE - Francis “Frank” James Buckley, 87, of Sublette, passed away July 4, 2017 at Maple Crossing at Amboy with his loving wife and five children by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Sublette with Rev. Randy Fronek officiating. Interment will be at St. Michael Sandy Hill Cemetery, Maytown with military honors by the Amboy American Legion. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and grandsons. Visitation is from 8:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Arrangements were handled by the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton.

Mr. Buckley was born Jan. 13, 1930 at KSB Hospital, Dixon, the only child of Charles and Bridgett “Bea” (Burke) Buckley of Maytown. He married Rosamund Garland on Nov. 29, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Church, Amboy after completing basic training and before shipping out to Korea.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephen (Kimberly) Buckley of Palos Heights, Timothy (Deb) Buckley of West Allis, Wis. and Lawrence (Rose) Buckley of Sublette; two daughters, Trudy (Bob) Lahman of Amboy and Bridgett (Ray) Drag of Shorewood; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Frank grew up on the family farm in Maytown and attended Maytown Grade School. He graduated from Amboy High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. After his service, he returned to the area and the couple lived in the Sublette/Amboy area most of their married life. He worked at a variety of jobs over the years including Conco in Mendota, Farm Service in Lee Center, and then as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. After retiring, he drove a van for Lee County Senior Services until December of 2009. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and the Sandy Hill Cemetery Board. He enjoyed fishing and will be remembered by all of his grandchildren for his amusing anecdotes and wry observations on life.
