Phil and Marge Sutton of Bloomington, Ind. map a route before heading out with eight other Ford Model As following behind, Sept. 21. Their stop in Mendota was brief, just enough time to fill up the gas tanks. The Suttons and their Model A, affectionately known as Bertha, have traveled to 37 states and five Canadian provinces. On this trip, they were returning from the Amana Colonies in Iowa and were on their way to Pontiac before returning home. The group, representing three different Indiana-based Model A car clubs, does not go to car shows; they just travel together. “It’s a fun way to meet people,” Marge commented. The Ford Model A was in production from 1927-1931. (Reporter photo by Jennifer Sommer)
