MENDOTA – Tom Armstrong and his wife, Heike, admire the blooming daffodils that align Illinois Avenue in downtown Mendota. Last fall, Steve Lauer and Jim Lauer, in partnership with the city of Mendota, planted 5,000 daffodil bulbs in dedication to Tom Armstrong’s father, Jim, who was a long-time and dedicated member of the Mendota Garden Club. The daffodils will bloom in three different stages from early to late spring, giving them a longer bloom time.
