SUBLETTE - Florence Marie Ayers, 86, of Sublette passed away May 21, 2018 at OSF Saint Paul Medical Center, Mendota.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 24 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Michelle Crow officiating.
Florence was born Nov. 26, 1931 in Malden to Archie and Myrtle (Anderburg) Clark. She married Donald Ayers in September of 1950. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2009.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Politsch of Mendota and Janet (Jim) Nagel of Sublette; four grandchildren, Chris (Andrea) Politsch of Dimmick, Andy (Melissa) Politsch of Byron, Christian Nagel of DeKalb and Caitlin Nagel of Downers Grove; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Florence grew up on a farm south of Sublette and attended Amboy High School, graduating in 1949. She and her husband farmed just a few miles from where she grew up. She worked at Hart Carter, Massey Fergussen and Holland & Sons, all in Mendota. In 1990, she and Don retired to Sublette. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mendota.
Memorials may be directed to Hedd Mutt Foundation (dog rescue) or the donor’s choice.
