ORANGE CITY, Fla. – Esther Kettleborough, 88, of Orange City, Fla., formerly of Mendota, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Halifax Hospice Care Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Restland Cemetery in Mendota. A luncheon will follow at the Moose Lodge in Mendota.
She was born on April 24, 1929, in Paw Paw, to the late Robert E. and Ada Simpson. She married James H. Kettleborough on Sept. 16, 1950.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa and Daryl Roston, Port Clinton, Ohio, Jan and Glenn Reeder, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Ashlee (Kettleborough) Noah and husband Derek, Nathan Reeder and wife Gina, Trevor Roston; two great grandchildren, Mason Noah and Matthew Reeder; sisters Betty Rogers, Louise Ambler, and Cynthia Donna, and brother Donald Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Daniel Kettleborough, as well as several of her brothers and sisters.
Esther graduated from Mendota High School. In her youth in Mendota, she was a Sweet Corn Festival Queen, a waitress, and a telephone operator at H. D. Conkey Co. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be forever missed. She loved golf (and was very good at it), her dog Bengee, and her family and friends.
