SPRING VALLEY - The Parkinson’s Support Group at St. Margaret’s Hospital has donated $1,000 worth of equipment to the Illinois Valley YMCA for their Rock Steady Boxing program. The new equipment will allow the YMCA to expand class size for this popular Parkinson’s exercise program.
“Rock Steady Boxing exercises are a great benefit to persons diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease,” said Sue English, leader of St. Margaret’s Parkinson Support Group.
The equipment was purchased with proceeds of a grant provided by the Midwest Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association with matching funds held for the support group in the St. Margaret’s Foundation.
The Parkinson’s Support Group meets at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley on the first Monday of each month. For more information about the group or Rock Steady Boxing, please contact (815) 434-7114.
