Jason Kent Johnson Memorial Award presented

MENDOTA - The 2017 Jason Kent Johnson Memorial Award was presented to Melissa Wohrley during the Mendota High School commencement ceremony on May 20. This award was established in 2016 to honor Jason, a 1999 graduate of Mendota High School. Recipients of the award are student-athletes who mirror Jason’s commitments to athletics, community service and leadership and who hold passion and focus for the fields of health, medicine and education.

Wohrley plans to attend North Central College to major in neuroscience and minor in biology. She will continue to graduate school to earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and serve as a physical therapist, helping a wide range of people with the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.

Mendota student graduates from Carthage College

KENOSHA, Wis. – Ashlyn Kennedy of Mendota graduated magna cum laude in January 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and cross-categorical special education from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.

Kennedy was among more than 550 students who graduated from Carthage during the last academic year. The 2017 Commencement ceremony was held May 21 in the N. E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center Field House.

Monmouth holds graduation

MONMOUTH - Ashley Schrader of LaMoille was among 285 students graduating from Monmouth during the college 160th commencement on May 14.

Schrader earned with a degree in biology. She is the daughter of Ryan and Teresa Schrader of LaMoille.

Carthage names dean’s list

KENOSHA, Wis. – Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. has named Elizabeth Willis of Mendota to its dean’s list for academic excellence during the spring 2017 semester. Dean’s list honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a 3.5 grade-point average while carrying at least 14 credit hours during a semester.

Carthage is a four-year, private liberal arts college with roots in the Lutheran tradition and home to 150 scholars, 2,600 full-time students and 400 part-time students.

Monmouth dean’s list

MONMOUTH – Two LaMoille students, Joshua Gross and Ashley Schrader, have been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Monmouth College. To be included, students must earn at least three academic credits with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Schrader, a senior biology major, is the daughter of Ryan and Teresa Schrader and Gross, a sophomore physical education major, is the son of Richard and Mary Gross.
