MENDOTA - Donna J. Chapman, 87, passed from natural causes on Feb. 7, 2022 at Heritage Health Nursing Home, Mendota.

Public visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. A private family funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota.

Donna was born Aug. 19, 1934 in Rushville to Paul and Florence (Croxton) Park. The fifth of 11 children, she relished in the many memories she shared with her siblings. She married the love of her life, Richard Roman, in 1955 in Spokane, Wash. where he was stationed while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He preceded her in death in 1977. They had two daughters, Rose (Terry) Wiesbrock of Fox Lake, Wis. and Barb Schumacher of LaSalle. In 1979, she married Jack Chapman. He preceded her in death in 2020.

Survivors include her two daughters; three grandchildren, Brad (Brenda) Grothen, Brooke Schumacher and Brandon Schumacher; three siblings, Kay Fitzjarrald of Rushville, Nancy Schisler of Rushville and Teressa Rogers of Mt. Pulaski; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents and seven siblings, Gene Park, Jeanette Hoff, Beverly Park, Jim Park, Ralph Park, Bill Park, and Paulette Park.

Donna was a resident of Mendota for over 50 years and spent many of those years employed at the Mendota Reporter. She enjoyed her family, her flowers, watching the birds, and keeping up with the Game Show Network. For many years you could see her with a wave and a smile while on her routine walks through town. Though her family is heartbroken by her passing, we know she will forever be remembered for her kind words, her quick wit, and for always having a way to make us laugh.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.merrittfh.com.
