PERU — The Lucky Few IV Trisomy 21 Trio stopped by Horizon House recently to drop off a check for $1,500.

March 21 was World Down Syndrome Day. 3-21 represents Trisomy 21, the medical term for Down Syndrome, which is the third replication of the 21st chromosome. This group raised money for WDSD by selling wristbands, T-shirts and encouraging area schools and community members to wear crazy socks on that day to remind people that things that are different are still beautiful and wonderful. Horizon House was honored to be a recipient of a large portion of the funds they raised on 3-21. Congratulations on a great fundraiser.

Horizon House of Illinois Valley, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides services and supports to people with disabilities and their families. We listen to the people we support, we learn from them and we let their needs and wants guide our services. We serve people in their home communities. Some people need a few hours of support each week while others require around-the-clock support 365 days a year. Some people want jobs in the community, some work in a workshop, others have chosen retirement. We support people with disabilities to create and live the lives they choose.
