MENDOTA – Charlene F. Doan, 62, of 1205 Third St., Mendota, was charged with city ordinance violations of permitting a dog to run at large as well as having an unlicensed dog with the city of Mendota.
At approximately 12:54 p.m. April 9, Mendota police officers responded to the report of a vicious dog that had attacked two neighboring dogs in the vicinity of the 1200 block of Third Street. One of the victim dogs was severely injured and required emergency veterinarian care while the second dog succumbed to its injuries as a result of the attack.
The LaSalle County Animal Control Officer was notified about the attack and worked with the Mendota Police Department to take safety measures and enforcement actions. After learning that the dog had previously attacked dogs in another community while running loose, Animal Control spoke with Doan and she agreed to release the dog to the county to be euthanized.
