MENDOTA – Remote learning will continue through Friday, Sept. 18 in Mendota Elementary District 289 schools.

“After discussions with the health department, our administrative team, the board and the transition committee, we have made the decision to continue with remote learning through Friday, Sept. 18, with an anticipated return to full-day in-person learning on Monday, Sept. 21,” stated Superintendent Dr. Kristen School. “The district will continue to re-evaluate the plan on a regular basis.”

School said the dismissal time for full-day learning would be 2:30 p.m. (2:20 p.m. for kindergarten). Pre-K parents will be contacted after determinations are made to the AM/PM programs.

Consideration was given to the following areas: building temperatures (heat) along with the addition of masks, the high number of cases in our community, and several schools in the surrounding area that have closed and switched to remote learning due to positive COVID cases.

“We realize this will impact every family differently and ask for your patience and support as we work through the details,” added School. “Please reach out to your child’s teacher, the building principals or me with any concerns or questions.

“Our number one goal is to keep all students and staff safe. We work best when we work together.”
