MENDOTA – Several students from Lincoln and Northbrook Schools have been selected to attend the Young Author Celebration, May 2 at Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Resort in Utica with other students from the Starved Rock Reading Council area. The selected students submitted a poem, book or short story that was then chosen by a committee.
The winners, in grades K-8, will hear presentations by award winning authors Keir Graff, Jacob Grant, and Mike Grosso, and received an autographed book and certificate of participation.
District 289 winners were: 2nd graders Caden King and Samuel Arteaga, 3rd graders Hayden Cunefare and Karlee Organ, 4th graders Daniel Pierce and Drew Becker, 5th graders Gracie Botts and LeAnn Oleson, 6th graders Dessa Komitas and Gresy Patel, 7th graders Angel Botello and Emma Clark, 8th graders Jamie Dooley and Talya Schwaegerman.
