Delmer J. Dinges

SUBLETTE – Delmer J. Dinges, 92, of Sublette, passed away Sept. 8, 2023, at Manor Court, Peru with his loving family by his side.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Sublette. Fr. Randy Fronek will officiate, and burial will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be conducted by Mendota V.F.W. Post #4079. Visitation for Delmer will be Tuesday, Sept. 12 in the parish hall from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary at 3:30, and from 8 a.m. until service time on Sept. 13. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.
Delmer was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Mendota, to Leslie and Louise (Weber) Dinges. He graduated from Mendota High School in 1949, and two years later entered the United States Army, serving honorably in the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Joan Myers, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, on Nov. 3, 1956, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2016.
Delmer will be greatly missed by his children, Jane (Leo) McCoy of Amboy, Gary (Kathy) Dinges of Amboy, David (Laura) Dinges of Byron, Mardy (Pete) Dinges of Chicago, and Jenny (Nick) Nauman of Amboy; 12 grandchildren, Tina, Jake, Kayla, Eric, Ashley, Abby, Bethany, Andrea, Holly, Stacey, Julia and Hayley; nine great-grandchildren, Riley, Rian, Rynn, Macy, Blake, Tanner, Adrock, Judah and Genesis; two brothers, Tom (Karen) Dinges of Sublette and Bernie Dinges of LaMoille; and a sister, Margie Smith of Oakdale, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, and sister-in-law Anne Dinges.
For several years Delmer worked for Dinges Oil/ Cities Services, but his love was farming alongside his dad and brother Tom. Delmer was a 70-year member of the Mendota Elks Lodge #1212, the longest living member. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
