OTTAWA - The first ever Dayton Bluffs 5K Trail Run/Walk will take place in Ottawa on Saturday, Sept. 29. Sponsors are the City of Ottawa, the Conservation Foundation and Friends of Dayton Bluffs. Staging area will be Hank’s Farm Restaurant parking lot with the run beginning at 8 a.m.

Noted ultra-marathon runner and Ottawa native Coree Aussem-Woltering laid out the 5K trail with Friends of Dayton Bluffs volunteers. The run will take participants through the prairies and woodlands of a pristine 253-acre nature preserve located on the Fox River. The preserve has more than a mile of river frontage and includes unique geological features, multiple ravines and several prehistoric archeological sites.

This will be a timed 5K trail race also open to walkers. Awards will be given to the top three finishers overall (men and women). Food will be available for purchase after the race on site.

Registration is available at runsignup.com. For more information, contact their Facebook page at Dayton Bluffs Preserve Trail 5k Run/Walk or website at PickUsOttawaIL.com.
