OREGON – The Mendota girls’ cross country team had its season come to close in the Oregon Class 1A Sectional on Oct. 27.
Devin Wade turned in the top finish for the Lady Trojans in 92nd place with a time of 23:35. Three MHS runners were bunched together from 129th place to 131st place – Gabrielle Brown (26:22), Jesenya Avila (26:37.47) and Piper Artman (26:37.81). Jacquelyn Keeton (144th, 29:01) completed the Mendota lineup.
Karlie Hey of Sterling Newman was the overall champion with a time of 18:53.
Teams advancing to the state finals on Nov. 3 in Peoria are Rock Falls, Winnebago, Rockford Christian, Toulon Stark County and Seneca.
