STREATOR – All LaSalle County schools’ cross country teams converged on Streator's Eastwood Golf Course for a race on Oct. 5.
Winning the girls’ race in a time of 18:23 was LaSalle-Peru’s Ashley Heagy, followed by Seneca harriers Audrey Jenkins (19:44) and Amber Vroman (21:13).
Mendota's top finish belonged to Jamie Dooley (20th) in a time of 24:16. Piper Artman also ran for the Lady Trojans, finishing 56th (32:56).
Seneca's girls edged out L-P, 41-43, for the title, followed by Ottawa (60) and Streator (77). Mendota and Marquette did not field full teams.
In the boys' contest, Logan Johnson of L-P posted the top time, winning in 15:52. Lucas Hoffman of Marquette (16:07) and L-P's Ryan Hartman (16:34) rounded out the top three.
Andrew Stamberger had the best finish for Mendota, earning 11th with a time of 18:01. Other Mendota participants included Trent Stamberger (19:07, 26th), Ty Connelly (19:32, 32nd), Alex Hermosillo (20:06, 42nd), Sam Lawrence (20:21, 46th), Nevin Fouke (20:26, 48th), Hunter Siebert (25:11, 81st) and Liam Indigo (26:23, 84th).
The L-P boys were tops with 27 points, with Seneca (43), Streator (82), Ottawa (106) and Mendota (116) following. Earlville and Marquette did not field full teams.
