Ladies Golf & Bridge Auxiliary
MENDOTA – Members of the Ladies Golf & Bridge Auxiliary met on Sept. 5.
For golf, Play of the Day was Secret Partners. Winners were Sandy Hanson and Colleen Strouss, first place, with 112; and Lauren Koch and Sue Urso, second place with 114. Lauren Koch and Sue Urso were the low putt team. Sue Urso had a birdie on hole 9.
Bridge winners were Mary Margaret Schimmer, 1st place; Joyce Burright, 2nd place; Peggy Eller, 3rd place; and Thelma Hutchinson, 4th place.
Illinois Valley Herb Guild to meet
STANDARD – The Illinois Valley Herb Guild will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in Standard at the Putnam County Senior Center. Club member Craig Arbet will present the Herb of the Month, garlic. There will be homemade garlic butter with some Italian bread for refreshments.
Any club members who are planning on bringing refreshments should call Craig Arbet at (815) 228-7369. The speaker of the month will be Scott Shearer on Trimming Trees. As a reminder, club dues are due this meeting.
Anyone in the general public who would like to increase their knowledge of using herbs for culinary, medicinal, and dyes is welcome to attend.
