MENDOTA – Members of the Mendota VFW Post 4079 met for the monthly business meeting on June 8.

A notice of the Flag Day Program presented by the Elks 1212 was read. The program will be in Veteran’s Park on June 14 at 7 p.m. If it is raining, the program will be held in the Elks Building.

There are three annual members who have not paid current dues and will cease to be members if dues are not received in the next two weeks.

New business included discussion of donation for replacing flags for the Avenue of Flags in the cemeteries during Memorial Day Weekend. Members approved purchasing and installing a light over the portrait of Bill Phillips in the meeting room.

Upcoming events include the Department Convention in Springfield on June 13-16 and the next auxiliary meeting on July 13 at 11 a.m., preceded by the quarterly audit at 10:30 a.m.

Starved Rock Cycling Association

OTTAWA – The Starved Rock Cycling Association’s next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held at the American Legion Post 33, 901 LaSalle St. in Ottawa.

Anyone interested in cycling and learning more about bicycles and bicycle advocacy is welcome. For more information, contact the Starved Rock Cycling Association at starvedrockcycling@yahoo.com.
