MENDOTA – The Mendota Lions Club met on May 13.

District Governor Lori Lynn spoke at the meeting. She talked about the past year, the activities as district governor and how much she enjoyed serving.

The Mendota Lions hosted the Lions Honors Banquet for the Mendota High School Students who achieved excellence in their academic endeavors. Twenty students and Denise Aughenbaugh, MHS principal attended the banquet. The Lions served salad, pizza and dessert.  Each of the students was given a medallion for their outstanding achievements.

The following topics were discussed and/or approved:

- The Mendota Lions have committed to donate up to $15,000 toward the renovation of the basketball court at The Purple Park. The Lions Club, The Optimist Club and the City of Mendota are working together and have all committed to monetary donations toward the project.

- A $1,000 scholarship was given to Mendota High School student, Jenna Stanford, on behalf of her excellent service for the Lions Club and the Mendota Community.

- The William Way Community will be having a garage sale at the Mendota Lions Den the first weekend of June.

The next meeting will be on Monday, June 10. Unless notified, the meeting will be at the Lions Den.
