IVADA
PERU – The Illinois Valley Activity Director’s Association held a meeting on Sept. 11 at Liberty Restaurant in Peru.
Host locations for meetings next year, grandparent day, and information on a sign language speaker was discussed.
It was noted that the Illinois Activity Professionals Association’s convention will be held in Springfield Oct. 18-20 at Northfield Inn and Suites. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Home.”
The next IVADA meeting will be held at Heritage Health, in Chillicothe on Oct. 16 at noon.
Speaker, Janet Sand will talk about CAA’s and care plans. Members are urged to bring in sample care plans.
LSCRTA
OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Retired Teachers Association held their fall 2017 general meeting at Festivities Unlimited in Ottawa on Sept. 25.
The 2018-2019 officers were presented: President Jackie Sapienza, 1st VP Alice Joop, 2nd VP Cathy Erickson, Secretary Wanda Lent, Treasurer Jan Kaufman, and Corresponding Secretary Pauline Cashman.
The Bucks for Books schools receiving $100 from LSCRTA for their libraries are: Northlawn Jr HS in Streator, Earlville HS, Centennial Elementary School in Streator, Lostant Elementary School, Mendota HS, Seneca HS and Kimes Elementary School in Streator.
Members were provided with useful information regarding current practices relative to retired educators, heard about upcoming program events, were brought up-to-date on education related issues in Springfield, informed about the NCI Artworks’ Mad Hatter Ball on Oct. 1, and entertained by violinist, Abby Myers.
