MENDOTA – Members of the Mendota VFW Post 4079 Auxiliary met on Oct. 14 for the monthly business meeting.
Members approved a donation to Horizon House to provide a Christmas gift for two individuals and a donation to the VFW National Home for Children in memory of member Kay Kromm who recently passed away. The auxiliary will also provide financial support for an upcoming Vietnam Veterans Honor Flight.
Members who have not paid dues for the year will be sent a reminder letter.
Deadlines were announced: Continuing Ed—Feb. 15, 2018; Patriotic Art Contest—March 31, 2018; and Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen—Oct. 31, 2017. All applications are available on the Dept. of Illinois Auxiliary website.
Members decided to delay the start of the next meeting since it falls on Veterans Day. All members are asked to attend the program at Veterans Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. After the program there will be a light lunch served at the VFW followed with a business meeting.
Committees are reminded to get reporting done online.
Upcoming events include: Steak Fry on Oct. 21; 9th District meeting in Marsailles on Oct. 29; Veteran’s Day Program on Nov. 11 at Veteran’s Park, followed by a meeting (delayed start).
