She was a Christian and a member of the Rochelle Church of Christ. A pro-life supporter, she volunteered at the pregnancy center in Mendota. She was a published author, most notably in “Stories for the Family’s Heart.” She was an avid animal lover/rescuer and volunteered many hours at the local humane society. She was a member of American Legion Post 511. Clare worked various jobs throughout her life, but her greatest devotion and impact was as a wife, mother and “Grammy.” She made her house a haven for anyone she could help and many people were influenced by her love and hospitality. She enjoyed attending church services, reading, writing and spending time with people. She never met a stranger. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee, which was mostly cream and sugar.
