MENDOTA - For the past 11 years, the Mendota FFA Toy Show has been held the second weekend in November. This event has served as an opportunity for boys and girls of all ages to have a reason to play with toys, primarily farm and construction toys.
While that opportunity will still exist, the dealer field is also opening to crafters and vendors for the 2018 show. In addition, a new date is being tried for the show as several conflicts existed with the traditional second weekend date.
This year’s show will take place on Sunday, Nov. 25 at Mendota High School with the doors open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for anyone still searching for the perfect gift to fill out their holiday shopping list. A $2 donation for anyone six years or older is appreciated.
The Mendota FFA Chapter will have breakfast and lunch items available as well as concessions throughout the day. The show will also feature farm toy displays set-up by Mendota FFA members. Poinsettias from the Mendota FFA Greenhouse will be available to purchase and anyone wishing to order fruit, cheese or sausage items from the annual Mendota FFA Blue Freedom Farm Markets fundraiser will be able to do so as well. Delivery of Blue Freedom items will be Dec. 17 just in time for Christmas.
Any questions about the show or requests for dealer contracts may be directed to either Matthew Meyer, agriculture teacher/FFA Advisor, at Mendota High School by calling (815) 539-7446, extension 534 or Megan Faber, show manager, via e-mail at meganrenee17@ymail.com.
The FFA strives to makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
