LA SALLE - Spring is here and there is no better way to cure those winter blues than getting some fresh air and helping spruce up our community.

The Perfectly Flawed Foundation will host its 5th Annual Earth Day Cleanup Event on Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Check-in will be at the Illinois-Michigan Canal Lock 14 shelter in LaSalle. Those participating in the cleanup should come prepared with long pants, long sleeves, and work gloves.

Earth Day volunteers will enjoy a light lunch provided by Peru Hy-Vee and some local partner organizations on-site with a variety of educational resources. Those planning on attending should also know that this event will follow all current IDPH guidelines.

Those not able to join in person can contribute remotely. Take a picture of yourself or your family doing something to help your community while practicing social distancing. Examples of this can include cleaning up trash, beautifying your yard, planting a garden or helping others in need. Post those pictures to Instagram or Facebook from now until Saturday, April 24 using the hashtag #perfectlyflawedearthday for a chance to win some great giveaways.

Two trees will be planted for every photo posted on social media with the hashtag #BETTERPLANET by our supporter of Boxed Water. The Perfectly Flawed Foundation’s 2021 Earth Day Event is registered on the earthday.org website. Anyone can promote this event by using the hashtag #earthday.

The Perfectly Flawed Foundation’s programs are made possible by generous community supporters including 2021 Presenting Sponsors Miller Group Charitable Trust, The Gary & Deb Dahl Charity Fund and Angel Sponsor St. Margaret’s Health.
