MENDOTA - The Illinois Valley Hispanic Partnership Council will hold their 20th Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. This year, the celebration will take place at the Tri-County Fairgrounds in Mendota.
Entertainment will include a live band, the Tamborazo Salinas from Mendota; “De Colores” Folkloric Dance group from Mendota; music by D.J. Explorer of LaSalle; a taco truck, Machelos Tacos, by Crispin Molina; and other authentic Mexican food.
Ronald McDonald has retired but there will be face painting, prizes and activities for kids, health screenings for adults, and free prizes offered all evening. Information booths from the Illinois Valley area and beyond will also be available as well as the Queen Contest, the Mini Queen and King contest, and a 50/50 raffle.
This annual event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend this fundraiser and enjoy the celebration of Hispanic heritage in the Illinois Valley area.
