LA SALLE -Previously announced auditions for Stage 212’s summer 2020 production, “Kiss Me, Kate,” have been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Try-outs will now take place on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at Stage 212, 700 First St., La Salle.

To avoid having large groups of people in the building at the same time, auditions will be conducted on a scheduled basis. A sign-up sheet will be posted at stage212.org, along with any further audition news.

Director Reid Tomasson will cast 20 men and women in a variety of lead, supporting and ensemble roles for this Tony Award-winning Cole Porter musical. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing a musical theater selection 30 seconds to one minute in length. Auditioners will also be taught a one-minute dance audition. Those with tap experience will be taught an additional tap combination.

Those seeking principal roles will be required to do readings from the script. No preparation is necessary and familiarity with the script is not required to audition.

For more detailed information, visit stage212.org.

“Kiss Me, Kate!” will be presented July 17-Aug. 2.

Stage 212 auditions are open to all regardless of prior theatrical experience.
