LA SALLE - Director Neal Phelps has scheduled auditions for Stage 212’s summer 2017 production, “A Chorus Line.” Try outs will be Friday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at the theater, 700 First St. in LaSalle. Call backs will be on Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m.
The cast for this Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical by Marvin Hamlisch, Edward Kleban, James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante will include 8-10 males in principal roles, various ages up to 60; 9-11 females in principal roles, various ages up to 50; and another 12 roles, various ages up to 50 for the ensemble.
Those auditioning must be at least high school freshmen in the fall of 2017. To try out, please come prepared with a 30-60 second a cappella musical selection and be prepared to learn and perform a dance piece. For those interested, there will be an opportunity to perform a cold reading from the script.
Auditioners should also come prepared with all summer conflicts and availability. There can be no conflicts on performance dates. Those interested in seeing a perusal script should message Stage 212 on Facebook or contact the Stage 212 box office at (815) 224-3025. Familiarity with the script is not required to audition. “A Chorus Line” will be presented July 14-30. Stage 212 auditions are open to all regardless of prior theatrical experience.
