How many questions were on the first U.S. Census in 1890?
The answer to last week’s quiz is: The “seven sleepers” are the mammals that hibernate in winter: raccoons, chipmunks, skunks, bears, bats, woodchucks and jumping mice. Raccoons and skunks aren’t true hibernators, though. They wake up and wander around if the weather gets warm. But if any of the others are out for a stroll, assume spring has arrived.
