In how many movies did Bing Crosby sing the song “White Christmas?”
The answer to last week’s quiz is: The Christmas tree was banned from the White House by President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt. Some historians say Roosevelt, an avowed conservationist, was concerned about deforestation. Others say he wanted to avoid criticism from the public, which considered cutting down trees wasteful. Interestingly, Christmas trees were not common in homes at that time (1901-09) since most people considered them a pagan symbol.
