MENDOTA – An Otterbach Excavating backhoe tears into the former Campbell’s dry cleaning and laundry building on Illinois Avenue in downtown Mendota. Campbell’s started in Mendota in 1907, but the business has been closed for some time.
After the site is cleared, the city of Mendota will have the soil tested to see if there is any contamination, which could take several months. Once that is resolved, the city will offer the lot for sale.
