Business experts to be featured at Small Business Development event on May 30

Sessions will address exporting products & government contracting

OGLESBY – The Illinois Small Business Development Center at the Starved Rock Country Alliance will host two business building experts at IVCC in Oglesby on Thursday, May 30. Business owners and entrepreneurs interested in exporting products or exploring government contracting are urged to attend. There is no cost to attend the sessions.

The first session, Starting Government Contracting, will enable business owners and entrepreneurs with the understanding of how to register as a contracting vendor, small business certifications needed, the subcontracting process, and how to find government opportunities. Illinois PTAC Keli Krueger-Huhra has 28 years of progressive career growth integrating Procurement and Supply with organizational strategic objectives. Prior to joining the Illinois PTAC program, she was general manager/director, procurement and supply at Mitsubishi Motors North America Manufacturing Division. Krueger-Huhra has received the globally recognized CPSM designation by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). She has an MBA from the University of Illinois Gies College of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Illinois State University.

The second session, Expanding Business Internationally, introduces the basics of exporting, how to know if a product will sell, develop a marketing strategy, and how connecting with trade partners can make a business more competitive. Illinois SBDC International Trade Center Beatriz Ramirez has over 20 years of international sales and documentation experience and compliance with customs authorities, which facilitate the moving of products internationally. Ramirez has a management degree from University EAN in Bogota, Colombia and has received the Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) by North American Small Business International Trade Educators (NASBITE).
