LaMOILLE – LaMoille’s Buffalo Days celebration will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 9-11.

On Thursday, June 8, before the event officially kicks off, everyone is invited to get creative and “paint the town.” Come to the batting cages at Allen Junior High from 5:30-7:30 p.m., purchase a sidewalk square for $5 (includes paints and brushes) and create your own artwork on the sidewalks around LaMoille. Prizes will be awarded.

On Friday, June 9 at 4 p.m. the food stand, beer tent and Fun on the Run inflatables will open to get the festivities started. The Fun Fair gets rolling at 5 p.m. and then at 6 p.m., see the opening ceremony at the Allen School outdoor stage followed by the Prairie Princess Contest and Jr. Miss Prairie Princess, and announcement of Lil Baby Buff winners.

The 5K Buffalo Stampede Run/Walk gets a fun-filled Saturday rolling first thing in the morning. Registration begins at 7 a.m. in the high school parking lot and the race starts at 8 a.m. Also Saturday morning, everyone is invited to bring in their old or new, clean or dirty tractors at 8 a.m. for the tractor show at Allen Grade School. Contact Monroe Norris at (815) 303-1960 for more information.

This year’s parade on Main Street will step off at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A special feature this year will be LaMoille native Howie Thayer dressed as the Hulk. Thayer, who will be in town for the LHS Class of 1967’s 50-year reunion, says this Hulk is not quite incredible - just impressive.

Prior to the parade at 10:30 a.m., see the hilarious bed races in front of the school. Teams must consist of five people (four pushing, one riding) and cash prizes will be awarded for most spirit and fastest time. Also on Saturday, enjoy firemen’s water fights, inflatable carnival, fun fair, silent auction, Rob Thompson Magic Show, LaMoille Band Concert and bluegrass music in the beer tent.

Saturday evening, see Neil Drummer’s history program at 7 p.m., an outdoor movie at 8 p.m., music by Brushville at 8:30 p.m. and free egg sandwiches at 11:30 p.m.

Sunday, a full day begins with the LaMoille Lions Club breakfast from 9 a.m.-noon and an outdoor community church service at 10 a.m. on the Allen School lawn (bring a lawn chair) hosted by Community United Methodist Church.

Registration for this year’s bean bag tournament (16 & older) will begin at 10 a.m. and the Relay for Life Volleyball tournament sign up will begin at 11 a.m., games at noon.

Sunday afternoon, bring your hot wings to the beer tent area where judges will be on hand at 1:30 p.m. to crown a new winner. At the same time, enjoy the harmonious sounds of The Red Covered Bridge Barbershoppers.
