PERU – St. Bede Homecoming will bring back record numbers of alumni as reunion classes representing 17 classes from 1942-2012 return home to the St. Bede campus Oct. 5-8.

The activities will begin with the parade and powder puff game on Thursday, Oct. 5. On Friday night, the annual variety show will take place. Saturday morning after the Jim Lattin 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m., the St. Bede Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony at 10 am. will induct Greg Basalay ’65, Jack Donaldson ’67, Nicole Pozzi ’93 and the 1957 Baseball Team. Historically being inducted will be Edward “Jeff” Pfeffer ’05, Leroy Herrmann ’26 and the 1924 football team.

A three-generation family legacy will all celebrate their reunions this year as 94-year-old Aloysius Kunkel ‘42 will join his son, Andy ’72 and grandson, Brad ‘02 along with eight decades of alumni who will come home to take part in reunions with fellow classmates.

A lot of excitement has been added to the weekend for a new event called BruinsJam, which will take place after the varsity football game until 10 p.m. Saturday night. The “Power at the Tower Tour” will include a lineup of eight performances featuring St. Bede alumni from the classed of 1964 through 2012. The complete lineup of performers can be found on the St. Bede website’s homecoming page.

Sunday will conclude with a new event coordinated by the St. Bede Alumni Association, the Bruins Brunch “spectatular,” which will be held in the St. Bede refectory. Immediately following the 10 a.m. Mass and the induction of the Golden Bedan Class of 1967, brunch featuring a mimosa bar will be served. This event is open to the public. Tickets are available now, on Saturday and at the door. The Alumni Association will make a special presentation during brunch honoring Dr. Lyle Micheli ’58 as the recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award.

“We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the weekend with our St. Bede family. See why we say, ‘Once a Bruin, always a Bruin,’ said Julia Yaklich, Development Director for St. Bede. And to all of our St. Bede family, we look forward to seeing you. Plan for a great weekend to share memories and make new ones.”
