ROCHELLE – The Mendota Trojans participated in the Rochelle Class 2A Sectional Track & Field Meet on June 10. None of the MHS competitors qualified for the state meet.
In the 100-meter dash, Mendota’s Christian Tellez was 23rd with a time of 13.47.
Two Trojans were entered in the 800-meter run. Billy Hall placed 13th with a time of 2:21.61 and Logan Wujek was 18th in 2:41.81.
In the 1600-meter run, Alex Hermosillo finished in the 11th spot with a time of 5:17.98 and Dagen Setchell was 21st in 6:11.52.
Mendota had two competitors each in the shot put and discus. Jose Rocha had a best throw of 10.58 meters (34’-7”) in the shot put for 18th place, while Tellez was 21st with a distance of 9.63 meters (31’-5”).
In the discus, Rocha took 17th place at 28.79 meters (94’-4”) and Jordan Coney was 23rd with a measurement of 20.40 meters (66’-9”).
In the team standings, Sycamore claimed the regional title with 106 points, edging out second-place Sandwich, with 100.5 points. Rounding out the top five teams were Dixon (91), Galena (56) and Rock Falls (51).
