PERU - The Relay For Life of Upper Illinois Valley season will start officially with a kick-off event on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Illinois Valley Superbowl in Peru. Area residents are encouraged to contact rfluiv@gmail.com, message Facebook March To A Million, or call (815) 538-6525 to reserve a bowling lane.
For a donation to Relay For Life of $60, up to six people (four or five maximum recommended) will enjoy unlimited bowling from 6 to 8 p.m. including shoe rental and one pitcher of soft drink per lane. Bowling will be laser/music/cosmic bowling for most of the time. Proceeds will fight cancer and provide free support services to local residents fighting cancer, thanks to the generosity of the Stubler family, Illinois Valley Superbowl, and event participants.
The bowling alley’s food offerings, bar and arcade will be available throughout the evening. Special raffles and door-prizes will be available, as well as information about Relay For Life of Upper Illinois Valley’s 10th Anniversary event July 13 and the “March To A Million” campaign.
The event seeks up to 12 corporate lane sponsors, who will also receive event sponsor amenities. Interested area businesses or groups may contact rfluiv@gmail.com. More information about this historic campaign is found at www.1mil.org. Cancer support services are available 100 percent free and can be accessed 24/7 at www.cancer.org or 1-800-227-2345.
