MENDOTA - Betty Louise Schmidt, 92, of Mendota, passed away June 3, 2017 at her home with hospice care.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy with Pastor Bill Clark officiating.
Betty was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Keenes to Charles and Bertha (Boykin) Bradford. She married Harold J. Schmidt on Feb. 20, 1944 in Dixon. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Mary Jo) Schmidt of Missouri and Robert J. (Carol) Schmidt of Oglesby; four daughters, Dixie (Duane) Link of Kentucky, Joan (Norm) Peterson of Earlville, Susan (John) Nicholson of Paw Paw and Cindy (Rick) Brinker of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth (Bill) Jacobs of Sycamore; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Ralph, Jim and Archy Bradford; one son, Edward J. (Joe) Schmidt; one grandson, Tom Schmidt; and a son-in-law, Robert Shirley.
Betty graduated from Troy Grove High School in 1942. She retired from Hart Carter. She liked going to auctions, garage sales and putting together puzzles. She also enjoyed Blue Grass Open Stage, flying in jet planes, and McDonald’s Mocha Frappes and cherished spending time with her good friend, Norma Buster.
