MENDOTA – Bertha A. Sondgeroth, 92, of Mendota passed away Sept. 10, 2023, at Allure of Mendota with her loving family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev Jeff Windy will officiate and burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be Sept. 13 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 5 p.m. at Wasmer Funeral Home. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.

Bertha was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Mendota, to William and Anne (Schneider) Klein. She married Raymond Sondgeroth on Jan. 29, 1949.

Survivors include her four daughters, Anna (Gary) Schrowang of Peru, Helen (Gary) Pikula of Ladd, Rose (Ken) Harlow of Mendota and Donna (Dave) Blake of Mendota; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray on Jan. 10, 2006; four sisters, Hilda Klein, Dorothy Weiman, Margaret Biers and Mary McCauley; and seven brothers, Ray, Gilbert, Joe, LeRoy, Edwin, Harold "Mick" and Hillary.

During her work career she was on the assembly line at Hart-Carter for 30 years. Bertha belonged to the Mendota Moose Lodge, Holy Cross Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
