MENDOTA – Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Becket of Mendota celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house and dinner at the Mendota VFW, hosted by their children.
Gerald and the former Lorraine Baier were united in marriage on Aug. 16, 1969 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mendota. The late Rev. Father Charles Karl officiated. Maid of Honor was the late Marcy Deaver Culver. Bridesmaid was Connie Becket, and Flower Girl was Shelley Deaver Prichit. Best Man was Rich Becket and Groomsman was the late Jerry Donahue. Ring Bearers were Kevin Deaver and the late Eddie Deaver Jr.
The Beckets are the parents of Brian (Kim) Becket of Mendota, Sherri Wittenauer of Sublette, and Amy (Brian) Lofthouse of Rochelle. They have seven grandchildren, Kody and Kamdyn Becket, Hayden, Alainie and Avery Wittenauer, and Clara and Brody Lofthouse.
Gerald was employed by Hart Carter and retired from Mendota Grade School District 289. Lorraine was employed by Stephenitch Ace Hardware and retired from Bay Valley Foods in Mendota.
Lorraine's parents, the late Val and Marcella Baier had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and Lorraine's oldest sister, Agnes and her late husband, Don Millershaski also celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Special guests attending the party were the Flower Girl Shelley Deaver Prichit of Dodge City, Kan.; Lorraine's twin brother, Larry and wife Jovita of Garden City, Kan.; Lorraine's sisters, Wanda and John Murry of Garden City, Kan.; Rose Sander of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her brother Charles Baier of Holcomb, Kan.; and nephew Gary and Jana Millershaski of Lakin, Kan.
