PRINCETON – The Bureau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The meeting will be held at the Society library at 629 South Main Street in Princeton, and the public is invited to this free program, presented by Tricia Kelly.
Kelly is the tour director and a storyteller at Hegeler Carus Mansion in LaSalle. Her program is entitled, “The Terrifying Truth About Victorian Medicine.”
Expect to learn how coughs were treated with boiled mercury and laudanum or a child’s fever might be treated with ice blankets and heroin.
This is a different speaker and program from what had previously been announced in the BCGS newsletter and at the September program. No reservations are needed.
