PRINCETON – The Bureau County Genealogical Society will hold its combined November, December meeting on Thursday, Dec. 5.
To celebrate the holidays, the board members are inviting the public to a social hour beginning at 6 p.m. at the Society library at 629 South Main Street in Princeton. Finger foods and beverages will be served before the regular meeting which will begin at 7 p.m.
The featured speaker for the evening will be Bureau County’s own citizen, Betty Jean Fox, who gained prominence playing in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League in her younger years. She grew up on a farm near Wyanet and played softball with her father and sisters. That early enjoyment of the game led to an unique experience as an early female athlete playing for the Rockford Peaches, the Kalamazoo Lassies, and the Muskegon Belles. The public is encouraged to attend this free program and hear her story. No reservations are necessary.
