Peyton Baird, front center, signs a national letter of intent to attend the University of Saint Francis in Joliet to play volleyball. The Mendota High School senior is flanked by her parents, Kris and John Baird. Also looking on are Saint Francis coach Cara Currier and Spiker coach John Holzman. Peyton said she chose Saint Francis for its academics and also as an opportunity to continue her volleyball career. She said she really liked Saint Francis after making a visit to the university, and also observed that the team members get along really well with each other, which was another appealing factor. Peyton plans to study accounting. Saint Francis is an NAIA institution and a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
