ROCKFORD – Discovery Center to host Future Nurse Academy, Egg-cessorizing Easter Eggs, Egg Hunt, and Sing Along with Thomas events this month.
"Future Nurse Academy" is set for Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
What do nurses do? Find out as friends from St Anthony School of Nursing lead you through their day. Take vital signs, use a stethoscope, check X-rays, and maneuver through the digestion obstacle course. Complete your nursing chart, bling your badge, and get pinned.
"Egg-cessorizing Easter Eggs will be held on Friday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Boil up some eggs, grab the kids and the creativity, and hop on over to Discover Center. They supply dye, stickers, and other colorful stuff for egg-ceptionally beautiful Easter eggs from ninja turtles to unicorns, and stained-glass windows to watercolor masterpieces. Bring your own eggs, and leave the clean-up to the Discovery Center! No registration, just drop in when you are ready. Recommended for ages 4 and up. One adult required for every two children.
Cost is $1 per member child; $2 for non-member child; adults no charge. Museum admission is extra, though not required if attending the event only.
An Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Discovery Center and Burpee Museum are teaming up for double the fun. Kids ages 9 and under can fill their baskets with treats as they hunt for eggs at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Kids little and big can get creative with spring-time crafts and adorable art. Come early and enjoy both museums at one great price. Special price: Members $3, non-members $10 adults, $12 kids.
Sing Along with Thomas on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chime in on your favorite fun train tunes, learn classic folk songs, and even practice the locomotion. Free or discounted admission if your share a name with Thomas or one of his friends. Sing-along times: 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., and 12:45 p.m. Sing Along is included with Thomas & Friends exhibit admission: $1 members; $11 non-members.
Discovery Center Museum is a hands-on children's museum with more than 300 interactive exhibits spread over a two-floor area and an outdoor park. All the exhibits relate to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). Out in the museum's backyard, visitors can explore Rock River Discovery Park, a giant, multi-level science park with a hands-on twist. Discovery Center is one of the top attractions for family fun in Northern Illinois.
In addition to Discovery Center's exhibits and award-winning outdoor park, the museum also hosts traveling exhibits, special events and programs throughout the year.
