AMBOY - Members of Lee County 4-H and their friends and family gathered at the Amboy Community Building on May 31 to watch the first 4-H Ambassadors Contest. 4-H Ambassadors are chosen based on their 4-H, school and community involvement, the achievements they have made and their ability to present themselves in front of others.

The contest was emceed by the 2016 4-H King and Queen, Calista Kern-Lyons and Nathan Shaddick. In between judging, the audience and contestants had fun eating “There’s No Place like 4-H” themed snacks. “There’s No Place like 4-H” will be the theme of the 2017 4-H Fair.

After judging was complete, the new 4-H Ambassadors were announced. They include Marie Barnickel of the Wyoming Indians, Amie Case of the Dixon Wonder Workers, Lindsey Dewey of the Amboy Young Seekers and Nicholas Hembrough of the Palmyra Hillbillies.

Announcement of the Lead Ambassador will take place at the Lee County 4-H Fair on Friday, July 28 at 5 p.m.
