LA MOILLE - Ardell H. Stuepfert, 84, of LaMoille passed away May 3, 2017 at the Mendota Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 8 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clarion with Rev. Kevin Weeks and Rev. Jerry Graham officiating. Burial will be at Hill Cemetery with military rites by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 7 at the Lundquist-Merritt Funeral Home, LaMoille.

Ardell was born Aug. 14, 1932 in LaMoille to Harold and Margaret (Ehlers) Stuepfert. He married Naomi Robbins on Feb. 5, 1956 at Perkins Grove Church in rural LaMoille. She preceded him in death in 2014.

Survivors include two sons, Earl (Tammy) Stuepfert of LaMoille and Edward (Sarah) Stuepfert of LaMoille; two daughters, Sharon (Paul) Sarff of LaMoille and Wanda (Steve) DeLong of LaMoille; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Beverly Faber of Sublette and Betty (Bill) Walters of St. Charles; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Ardell was a 1950 graduate of LaMoille Allen School. He served in the U.S. Army and spent two years in Japan. He was a lifetime farmer and drove a semi truck for Lilley Trucking and Mid American Growers for over 20 years. He was a lifelong member of Clarion Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and sang in the choir. He served on the LaMoille School Board and was past president for two terms. He was a charter member of the LaMoille Lions Club, a member of Mendota VFW Post 4079 and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed camping and hunting but was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family at a campfire in his grove of trees. He was a talented woodworker, a talent he discovered later in life.

Memorials may be directed to the LaMoille Fire and Ambulance or Arlington Fire Department.
